Ariwara Narihira

Japanese painting on silk of Ariwara Narihira. It is the image of the great historical figure in a scene with a moon in the background and a partial description of a garden to the left. It is a prunus being shown, and perhaps this is to indicate that this is a scene in the late winter months. There is a seal, but the artist’s name is currently untranslated. It is newly remounted.
